the leafs are history ( for this year )

and the final series in the
JCC ball hockey league
has begun

the two finalists were the teams
that finished in the middle of the pack
during the regular season

in one of the semis,
gus beat out the league leading dijon
in three games

this upset had to do with gus powering up
into the awesome form they exhibited
at the beginning of the year which had
totally disappeared by New Years

aron was playing injured
tim wasn't 100% yet and
speedy steve chamberlain had to miss the final game
so the last game of dijon's miraculous year
was a blow-out

in the other semi-finals the second place plague
lost two straight to the deranged

both games were so close
they could easily have gone either way

but as the cosmos would have it,
the mighty plague,
who were the league leaders for most of the year,
and who went into a funk during the second half of the year, couldn't "shake the funk" in time for the playoffs as gus has managed to do

alan jon and sander did not make it into the finals
which is a first for that trio
who have won the finals in the two other years
that they have played in the league

last monday gus beat the deranged
in the first game of the finals

this was the first deranged loss in
almost a dozen games &
the 2003-2004 season
could be all over by next monday

in a nutshell,
davy and lev got injured
early in the game,
the deranged defense fell apart
& gus was all over the opportunities
that came their way

i'd talk more about the new strategy
that deranged will be applying next monday
but right now
its top-secret

the firkin power-rankings were as follows
gus (the perennial power-ranking favorites)
was there with the full squad and
the deranged posted three
goalies - one

looking forward to seeing everyone
