Red Edges Green To Take the Championship

May 29, 2007

The game started out very one-sided, as Red jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead. At halftime, it was 5-1, it seemed as though it's all but over.

However, Green came storming out of the gates in the second half. Jordan scored two quick ones and Dean another. Gregus responded, with an unbelievable goal. Jordan got a really nice one, right off the draw, he beat me and then split between Jeff and Andrew to tuck it by Les, awesome stuff.

Tied at 6-5, I remember feeling really worried, and I thought to myself, I don't want to go to a game three. I looked over at the Green bench, and I saw them laughing and having a blast. I told Jeff, let's just play our game and have fun. He looked at me, but in Jeff Wener like fashion, no smile, no words. Just a nod.

As the game progressed it was obvious to me that we are being out played. We took a time out, great call by Evan to do so. Telpner and Evan played their hearts out last night. After the time out, Evan scored what seemed to me the quickest two goals I have seen scored in these playoffs. Both on perfect shots, off the post and in. He said after that he had been practicing that shot for two weeks prior. No wonder, he had the best game I have ever seen him play.

That was it, Green got a late goal, but in the end it was too late to make up for their slow start. It ended 8-6 and we won the series 2-0.

All the gents who missed out last night, Joel, Ronny and maybe Dom. You were missed, to the rest of the hockey lovers cheers to another great year. See you at the banquet.
