YOUNGSTERS WIN ALL-STAR GAME 19-10

Question : How does a team score 10 goals and still get blown away ?
Answer : Curley

With Manny Gregus Adam St Onge Amir and Lorne on the injured list, the Old Timers thought it would be a walk in the park but Curley scored so often that they were playing catch-up from the start...

Curley had scored 7 times in the first half. Goals from Ziggy and Reznick made it 9 to 6 for the youngsters at the half. The old timers were on their heals but definitely not out of it. With Aron Harris and Davey up front we knew we still had some goals in us. We pulled within two but the youngsters were resilient and kept bouncing back. They had 6 players which made two lines. The old timers had 8 players which was almost three lines.

The oldtimer's 8th player was Glenn who showed up to watch and play in the pick-up game. Since we were not likely to have a pick-up game afterwards, the old timers let him play on the team but
having almost 3 lines was a disadvantage because you cool down too much between shifts.

Over confidence was the first mistake of the old timers... especially an over-confidence regarding defense. We had so many veteran defensemen that we kinda assumed that it was our strong point. Also literally everything Curley touched went in the back of the net. It was wonderful to watch how out of control yet marvellously magically he made it all happen. He was clearly IN THE ZONE.

It was an outstanding game and seemed a lot closer than the score suggests. Telpner Nolan and Ziggy the goalie rounded out the 6 youngsters. Curley with 10 goals 2 assists. Reznick had 3 goals 5 assists. Ziggy 3 goals 2 assists. Nolan 2 goals. Jamie 1 goal 3 assists. Telpner 3 assists.

For the old timers Davey had 3 goals 3 assists. Harris 3 goals 1 assist. Lessem 2 goals 1 assist.

Before the game we had a skills competition. The 4 targets were mounted in the net's four corners. You had a minute to shoot all four shots but everyone used a small fraction of that time.

Fifteen players started the competition. If you could knock out one target with your first four shots then you could go to the second round. If anyone could have knocked out two they would have won. Sharpshooters like dave lantz and jamie shot zero for four. Aron Harris Jeff and I... again 0 for 4.

Joel Glen and Paul were the only oldtimers to get to the second round along with Ziggy Lorne Curley Reznick and Nolan. Then in the second round all the guns went silent. All except Nolan who took our two targets just so that there would be no confusion.
