THE DANGERFIELD

March 2, 2009

Sander Shalinsky gets no respect. But he sure gets points. In last night's final game, Sander collected seven points and single-handedly lifted a very shorthanded Red Rockets team into a comeback tie with the Sarner-induced nightmare known as Alan's kids. It was an epic match, with highlight goals on both sides. But none were better than Shalinsky's spin-o-rama penalty shot, which left not only Jesse with a dropped jaw (and jockstrap), but immediately put both benches into a state of shock. Question is, should we be so surprised? Despite his Blackberry-toting, deal-making largesse, Sander remains an unknown, a shoe-in for the Dangerfield award, if such an award existed. It was a great night of hockey, boys (and girl/woman). Many of our injured players have returned (though we're still waiting on Markowski and Lederer - heal up, gents!) and all teams are separated by only a handful of points. You have to respect everybody out there, I tell ya. Even Sander Shalinsky.
